Quetiapine - New Drug of Abuse?

Many drug abusers have been recently found to be using atypical antipsychotics.

Many of them use these medicines to deal with the bad effects from the other drugs. For example, with opiates and alcohol, the abusers are often unable to sleep, and so use an atypical-antipsychotic agent to try and recover from insomnia.

Only about one half are prescribed, whereas the rest get them on the streets or from family and friends.

Among the various antipsychotics, Quetiapine is one of the commonest drug to be abused.
